The Great Northern States Health Care Initiative is a group of people from Minnesota and Wisconsin who have come together for the purpose of advocacy for a better health care system in our respective states and the nation. Our main objective is education of ourselves and others in our communities on the imperatives of a single payer health care system.

We NEED single payer universal access health care. This person's frustrations help support that.

If health care seeds scatter, let's see what blooms | Star Tribune

This guy is certainly against single payer universal health care given his love for what he calls "free-market values". We need to understand more about why Vermont dropped the move to single payer. The idea that the "free market" competitive system of selling things fits with access to health care is why our system costs so much and has such terrible results. Too many in this country do not think access to health care should be a right and think such access needs to be only available to those worthy of it. Talk about "values"! What has happened to our democratic and religious values in this country? Fighting against universal health care access and insisting it be treated as a commodity is at the core of our problem and it is based on the most difficult of reasons -- internal values. Changing those is a hard and long process.

Minnesota's nonprofit health care: Can you heal me now? | Star Tribune
Minnesota's nonprofit health care: Can you heal me now? | Star Tribune
High salaries, high revenue over expense margins (can you say profits) all add up to motivation to make money rather than provide for the communities health care needs. Minnesota has long hidden behind the fallacy of non-profit insurance carriers handling the public programs. Now we see the fallacy involved in non-profit provider organizations. I like the idea of non-profit. But, it sure would be better if they actually were required to act like a non-profit community organization.
